De Sadeleer made a bid for pole on his third lap but pushed a little too hard and it was deleted for exceeding track limits. The Swiss driver then went again and posted a 1m39.052 to go to the top of the timing screens.

On the next lap he was trying to go down the outside of his teammate Christoph Cresp in the no28 Ligier at T17 when they both collided and they skidded off the track into the gravel trap. The red flag was immediately shown to bring the session to a halt with six minutes on the clock.

The session resumed but the no6 ANS Motorsport Ligier of Jonathan Bressard went off track and the second Red Flag was shown with less than two minutes remaining and the session was not restarted.

The no11 WTM Racing Duqueine of Torsten Kratz finished qualifying second fastest, the Le Castellet Round pole sitter posted a 1m39.163 lap, 0.111s behind De Sadeleer’s time and 0.325s ahead of the third placed car, the no37 CD Sport Ligier of Fabien Michal.

Michal will be joined on Row 2 of the grid by the no76 Reiter Engineering Ligier of Freddie Hunt, the British driver’s best time of 1m40.225 good enough for 4thplace.

Ebimotors Take Home Race GT3 Pole

The no46 Ebimotors Porsche was the fastest in qualifying for the second race of the 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup season at Imola, with 2017 Champion Emanuele Busnelli setting a 1m45.593 lap to claim pole position in the no46 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The Italian had set a faster time but lost it due to him pushing a little bit too hard and exceeding the track limits. The no44 GMB Motorsport Honda NSX will line up alongside the no46 Porsche in this afternoon’s race after Jens Moller lapped the track at Imola in 1m45.804, just two tenths behind the Italian.

The no99 Bullitt Racing Aston Martin Vantage made an early bid for pole in the hands of Stephen Pattrick but had to settle for a second row start with 1m45.984, ahead of the no55 GMB Motorsport Honda of Kristian Poulsen.

Motorsport history was also made during the 15-minute session when Stephane Richelmi qualified in the H24 Racing hydrogen powered prototype, posting a best time of 1m52.158 at the chequered flag, the first time a hydrogen powered race car had taken part in an international championship qualifying session.
