DKR Engineering Lead the Way on Day 1 in Monza

After two 60-minute Free practice session ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying session and 110-minute race at Monza, the no3 DKR Engineering Duqueine of Jon Brownson and Laurents Hörr was the fastest car overall.

Double Michelin Le Mans Cup champion Laurents Hörr was the only driver in the two sessions to post a sub 1m45s lap time, with the German setting a 1m44.897 around the 5.793km circuit.He was 0.248s faster than the no33 Team Virage Ligier of Ian Rodriguez and Rob Hodes, with Rodriguez’s time or 1m45.145 just 0.044s ahead of Matt Bell in the no4 Nielsen Racing Duqueine.

The top five LMP3 times in the morning session were all faster than faster time set in FP2, with the no6 ANS Motorsport Ligier being the fastest car in the second 60-minute session. Nicolas Schatz set a 1m45.384 lap, just one thousandth of a second faster than the no33 Team Virage Ligier of Ian Rodriguez.

It was a similar story in the GT3 class with the fastest class time set in FP1.2017 champions Fabio Babini and Emanuele Busnelli are competing at home in the no46 Ebimotors Porsche 911 GT3 R.Babini’s time of 1m50.126 was the best of the two sessions.

The best time in FP2 was set by the no88 GMB Motorsport Honda NSX of Mikkel Pedersen, the Dane’s 1m50.296 lap good enough for the second best of the day, just 0.048s faster than the no99 Bullitt Racing Aston Martin Vantage of Stephen Pattrick and Valentin Hasse-Clot, with Hasse-Clot setting a 1m50.344 in FP1.

Qualifying for the Monza Round of the 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup will begin at 12h45 with the GT3 session, followed at 13h10 by LMP3.The 5thrace of the season is due to get underway at 17h10 CEST.
