The weather was difficult for the competitors with heavy rain and strong winds. There were also two red flags to recover stranded cars that caused interruptions to the 60-minute session.

Droux’s time of 1m41.087 was 0.14s ahead of the no6 ANS Motorsport Ligier of Nicolas Schatz and a further two tenths quicker than Tommy Foster in the no26 360 Racing Ligier, the British driver setting a 1m41.442.

The no10 Racing Spirit of Léman Aston Martin Vantage of Valentin Hasse Clot finished the session in 11th overall, six places higher than the nearest GT3 rival. Hasse Clot’s time of 1m43.834 was 1.1s faster than the second placed car of Simon Birch in the no55 GMB Motorsport Honda, the Dane setting a lap of 1m44.971.

Race winner Kei Cozzolino was third fastest, the Japanese driver lapping the Ferrari 296 GT3 in 1m44.999, just 0.028s behind the Honda.

FP2 for the Portimão round will take place on Saturday morning at 09h10, with qualifying taking place the same day from 15h10.
