The no73 TS Corse Duqueine of Kai Askey set the fastest MLMC time of the weekend in the final 60-minute Free Practice session ahead of qualifying for the Portimao Round of the 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup later this afternoon.
The British driver posted a 1m37.908 lap right at the end of the session to finish just 0.077s ahead of Denmark’s Malthe Jakobsen in the no69 Cool Racing Ligier.The fastest lap was seven tenths ahead of the best time set in FP1 by the newly crowned 2022 champion Tom Dillmann.
The no6 ANS Motorsport and no66 Rinaldi Racing Ligiers were third and fourth fastest respectively, just over one tenth behind the lead car and just 0.004s between them.At the end of the session the top 12 LMP3 cars were covered by less than a second.
The no65 Team Parker Racing Porsche was the fastest of the seven GT3 cars, with Scott Malvern lapping the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in 1m42.546, six tenths quicker than the best GT3 time set in FP1.
The no99 Bullitt Racing Aston Martin was second quickest with a 1m42.975, 0.429s behind the leading Porsche and just 0.021 ahead of the no8 Schnitzelalm Racing Mercedes.
Qualifying for the Portimao Round will start with GT3 at 14h15 this afternoon.
