Rory Penttinen, driving the n°26 Ligier JS P320-Nissan, secured the first pole position of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup for Graff with a lap in 1:50.909 of the Circuit Paul Ricard.
Nicolas Maulini onboard the n°37 Cool Racing Ligier led the qualifying session from lap 4 with a time of 1:50.976 followed by the n°3 DKR Engineering Duqueine M30-D08 driven by championship leader Jean Glorieux. The n°21 Mülhner Motorsport Duqueine M30 briefly on provisional pole before dropping back to third with a lap of 1.51.166 by Moritz Kranz.
On the final lap Rory Penttinen put in his fastest time to move from fourth to pole at the chequered flag. Six tenths behind Penttinen, the n°37 Cool Racing of Nicolas Maulini (1:50.976) will start on the front row for this afternoon’s race, with reigning champions and current championship leaders DKR Engineering heading row 2.
The Le Castellet 120 will be round 3 of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup and also the last rehearsal before the flagship event of the year, the Road To Le Mans.
