The second and final free practice session of the Monza weekend saw Wayne Boyd set the fastest time of the 60-minute session with the British driver posting a 1m44.095 laps, nearly half a second ahead of the next car, the no7 Nielsen Racing Duqueine-Nissan of Colin Noble, the Scot setting a lap time of 1m44.585.
Boyd’s time was just 0.088 seconds slower than the best time in Free Practice 1 set by Edouard Cauhaupe, the French driver setting the fastest lap of the day with a 1m44.007.
The two Cool Racing Ligiers were third and fourth quickest with Matt Bell posting a 1m44.872 in the no69 Ligier, while Cauhaupe was fourth, just one tenth of a second behind his British teammate with a 1m44.972.
In the GT3 category the fastest time was set by the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari of Giacomo Piccini, the Italian posting a 1m47.908 lap around the 5.8km Monza circuit, two tenths faster than the best time set in FP1 by David Fumanelli in the no67 Kessel Racing Ferrari. It was Fumanelli who set the second fastest time in FP2, the Italian posting a 1m48.181, just 0.077s slower than his FP1 time.
Qualifying for the 2-hour race in Monza will take place at 12h10 tomorrow afternoon starting with a 15-miunte session for GT3 followed by another 15-minute session for LMP3. The race, which is Round 5 of the six round series, will start at 16h30 tomorrow afternoon and is streamed live on the official Michelin Le Mans Cup website.
