FP2: Team Virage Continue to Rule the Roost at Portimão

After setting the fastest time in FP1, the no12 Team Virage Ligier continued to set the benchmark for the other Michelin Le Mans Cup competitors to beat. With the sun setting behind the hills surrounding the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, Alessandro Ghiretti posted a 1m34.897 lap, the fastest of the weekend so far and 1.8 seconds faster than his FP1 time

Ghiretti’s was exactly one seconds ahead of the no69 Cool Racing Ligier of Round 3 winners Matt Bell and Maurice Smith, Bell setting a 1m35.897, just 0.033s ahead if the no23 United Autosports Ligier driven by Wayne Boyd.  Championship contenders Edouard Cauhaupe and Nicolas Maulini were fourth fastest in the no37 Cool Racing Ligier, just ahead of the no3 DKR Engineering Duqueine.

The no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari of David Perel was the fastest GT3 car on the first day of action at Portimão, the Ferrari lapping in 1m39.987, 0.4 seconds faster than the best time in FP1.   The no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari of Rino Mastronardi and Giacomo Piccini was second fastest, finishing the 60-minute session just 0.091 seconds behind the no74 Ferrari.

Qualifying for the final race of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup will take place at 10h55 GMT / 11h55 CET tomorrow morning.
