Fabien Michal scored his third pole of the season in the no85 R-ace GP Duqueine Nissan, the French driver posting a 2m13.785 lap to claim the top spot by over half a second.
The 15-minute session saw several cars challenge for the top spot with the no20 High Class Racing Ligier of Jens Moller setting the best time early on. Audunn Gudmundsson in the no77 Team Thor and Tony Wells in the no7 Nielsen Racing briefly held the provisional pole position, but they were pushed back from top position by Fabien Michal in the no85 Duqueine, with a 2m13.938.
Championship leader Adrien Chila spun off at T19 in the no97 COOL Racing, as did Josh Caygill in the no42 Steller Motorsport.Both drivers were able to quickly rejoin.
Michal then posted two improved laps, with the second being the eventual pole time o 2m13.785 as the session came to an end 2 minutes early after the no43 Inter Europol Competition Ligier of Tim Creswick went off at T18 and was unable to rejoin.
Tony Wells in the no7 Nielsen Racing finished second, just 0.004s ahead of the no2 CD Sport Ligier of Shahan Sarkissian, with the no26 Bretton Racing Ligier of Jamie Falvey qualifying in 4th.
Andrew Bentley scored the first MLMC pole for British team Steller Motorsport, which was also the first time an Audi R8 has been on pole in the Michelin Le Mans Cup.
The session saw an early bid for the top spot by the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Andrew Gilbert but was soon pushed back to second by the no24 Steller Motorsport Audi.The no88 AF Corse claimed the third fastest time just before a red flag was shown to stop the session when the no12 Kessel Racing Ferrari spun at the last corner.
After a short delay the session resumed with 6 minutes on the clock.The no51 AF Corse Ferrari leapt up the order into second place with Matt Kurzejewski at the wheel, the American just 0.172s behind Bentley.
The no83 Iron Dames Lamborghini also made up ground after the restart, with Celia Martin taking third place with a 2m20.399 lap and she was immediately ahead on her final lap.However, Martin abandoned the after she got held up by another car.
At the chequered flag Andrew Bentley scored his own debut pole in the no24 Steller Motorsport Audi and will line up alongside the no51 AF Corse Ferrari of Matt Kurzejewski on the front row of the GT3 grid.
