Twenty-seven cars are due to take the start on Sunday 28 October with an additional race-by-race entry in both the GT3 and LMP3 classes.

Fourteen nations are represented by the seventeen teams and fifty four drivers gathering for the final grid of the 2018 season.

Dutchman Leonard Hoogenboom and his German teammate Jens Petersen wrapped up the LMP3 title at Spa-Francorchamps last month, finishing third in their no3 DKR Engineering Norma-Nissan.

Scottish racing duo Alasdair McCaig and Colin Noble took their first win of the season in Belgium in the no79 Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Ligier to strengthen their claim on the Vice Champions position. They now hold a 14 point advantage over their teammates Tony Wells and James Littlejohn in the no2 Ligier.

The battle for the final win of the season will be intense with Road To Le Mans winners Michael Benham and Duncan Tappy looking for that elusive second victory after the British pair took pole in Belgium in the no25 Lanan Racing Norma.  Other cars to watch will be no40 Graff Ligier of Adrien Chila and Marc-Antoine Dannielou, the no14 RLR MSport Ligier of John Farano and Job Van Uitert and their teammates Alex Kapadia and Ross Warburton in the no59 Ligier.

The additional entry for the race in Portimão is the no43 Keo Racing Ligier of Danish driver Johan Jokinen and German Paul Scheuschner.

The GT3 class titles have also been decided in the last race in Belgium with the no8 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Giacomo Piccini and Sergio Pianezzola taking another victory to establish an unassailable 35 point lead over the second placed no51 Spirit of Race Ferrari of Christoph Ulrich and Maurizio Mediani.

Road to Le Mans winners Ulrich and Mediani have a 13 point lead over Andrea Piccini and Claudio Schiavoni in the battle for the Vice Champions title, with Piergiuseppe Perrazzini and Marc Cioci in the no71 AF Corse Ferrari and the no88 Ebimotors Porsche of Paolo Venerosi and Alessandro Baccani not far behind.

Kessel Racing is fielding a fourth Ferrari F488 GT3 in Portugal for Italians Manuela Gostner and Giorgio Sernagiotto. It will the first time this season that the Michelin Le Mans Cup will welcome a female driver.

The final showdown of the 2018 Michelin Le Mans Cup promises drama from start to finish.
