Racing Spirit of Leman 1-2 in FP2

After heavy rain 30 minutes before the second session of the Road to Le Mans weekend the track was declared wet for the final 60-minute Free Practice. But at the end of the session, Racing Spirit of Leman Ligiers set fastest times. Qualifying is going to be very tight on the 13.6km La Sarthe Circuit.

In an uninterrupted session the two Racing Spirit of Leman Ligiers headed the time sheets, with Tom Dillmann pushing his teammate Josh Skelton into second spot with less than five minutes left on the clock. The French driver posting a 3m45.406 lap of the 13.6km La Sarthe circuit, 1.005s ahead of Skelton, who had lapped in 3m46.411.

The no7 Nielsen Racing Ligier of reigning Michelin Le Mans Cup champion Colin Noble was third quickest at the chequered flag but then dropped to sixth as the no23 United Autosports Ligier of Wayne Boyd went into third with a 3m47.218 ahead of the no15 RLR MSport Ligier of Alex Kapadia in fourth with a 3m48.213 and the no6 ANS Motorsport Ligier of RTLM winner Nicolas Schatz.

The fastest Duqueine was driven by Torsten Kratz, the German finishing the session in seventh spot in the no11 WTM Racing Duqueine with a 3m48.755, 3.349s behind the fastest car.

The no99 Bullitt Racing Aston Martin was the fastest GT3 competitor for the second time today, with Valentin Haase-Clot out pacing the rest of the 12-car field by six tenths of a second with a 3m57.980, and nearly two seconds faster than his best time in FP1.

The no34 Team WRT Audi R8 of Maxime Robin was second fastest, the French driver finishing the session ahead of the no55 GMB Motorsport Honda NSX of Kasper Jensen by 0.439s.

Qualifying for the first Road To Le Mans race will take place at 12h10 tomorrow, followed at 12h45 by qualifying for Race 2. The first RTLM race is due to get underway at 18h30 on Thursday evening.
