In bright sunshine and warm summer temperatures, the no23 United Autosports Ligier was the quickest car on the track at Spa-Francorchamps in the first Free Practice session of Round 2 in Belgium. Wayne Boyd set a 2m14.448 second lap, 0.291s ahead of Round 1 winners Laurents Hörr and Jean Glorieux in the no3 DKR Engineering Duqueine.
Hörr’s best time was just 0.012s ahead of the third place car, the no66 Rinaldi Racing Duqueine of Dominik Schwager, with the no7 Nielsen Racing M30 in 4thplace at the end of the 60-minute session after Colin Noble set a 2m15.120 lap.
The GT3 class was headed by Round 1 winners Giacomo Piccini and Rino Mastronardi in the no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GT3.Mastronardi posted the best time of the session with a 2m20.455 lap time, 0.257s ahead of the no77 Ferrari of Iron Lynx teammates Claudio Schiavoni and Andrea Piccini.
The no74 Kessel racing 488 GT3 was third fastest with Michael Broniszewski posting a 2m21.378 lap at the chequered flag, just ahead of the no9 Ferrari of Deborah Mayer and Michelle Gatting.
The second Free Practice session for Round 2 of the 2020 Michelin Le Mans Cup at Spa-Francorchamps will take place at 16h45 this afternoon.
