Award winning Tamil Cinema actor Ajith Kumar will be joining the Michelin Le Mans Cup grid for the 2026 season, racing in LMP3 Pro/Am alongside former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan.
In his native India, Kumar is one of the highest profile actors having starred in over 60 films and has been included in the Forbes Indian Celebrity 100 list three times.He is not only well known in India, he also has a large fanbase in SE Asia and across Europe.
His racing career started in the early 2000s and has raced in the Formula Asia BMW Championship and in Formula 2. After competing in single seaters, Ajith Kumar switched to sportscars last year, competing in GTs and made his Le Mans Prototype debut with Team Virage in the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series.
We caught up with Ajith Kumar in Abu Dhabi ahead of the final two 4-hour races at the Yas Marina Circuit to talk about his acting and racing career and his thoughts on the upcoming MLMC season, starting with the season opener in Barcelona on Saturday 11 April.
