The Road to Le Mans is round 2 of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup with 20 full season entries taking part in this year’s event.
The Le Mans Cup teams and drivers will be joined by other entries from ELMS and Asian Le Mans Series to form a huge grid of 50 LMP3 and GT3 cars, who will all be taking to the 13.6km circuit at Le Mans for two 55-minute races.
The track action will begin on Wednesday 14th June with a 60-minute Free Practice session starting at 20h30. The second Free Practice session will take place between 09h00 and 10h00 the following morning on Thursday 15 June.
Two 20-minute qualifying sessions will be held on Thursday afternoon with the first session starting at 13h30 to determine the grid of race 1 and the second session at 14h05 to discover the grid for the second race of the event on Saturday morning. Either driver can take part in the first qualifying session but the bronze driver must take part in qualifying two.
Race 1 will take place at 17h30 on Thursday 15 June with race 2 on Saturday 17 June at 11h30 in front of the huge crowd that will be gathering for the start of the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans at 15h00.
Driver crews must include one bronze driver while the second driver can be bronze, silver or gold.
There is a mandatory pitstop in each race between 22 minutes and 32 minutes of the race and the pitstop must be no less than 2-minutes in duration (pit entry loop to pit exit loop).
The minimum driving time per driver is 20 minutes.
Championship points will be awarded to all competitors in each class on the following scale for each of the two races:
1st: 15 points
2nd: 9 points
3rd: 7 points
4th: 6 points
5th: 5 points
6th: 4 points
7th: 3 points
8th: 2 points
9th: 1 point
And beyond: 0.5 point *
There is an additional point for the competitors securing pole position in each of the classes.
