The no4 Nielsen Racing Duqueine was the quickest car in the opening practice session of the first weekend of the 2022 Michelin Le Mans Cup season at Le Castellet. Matt Bell’s time of 1m50.101, set towards the end of the 60-minute session, was 0.120s ahead of the no43 Racing Spirit of Le Mans Ligier, with Josh Skelton posting a 1m50.221 lap time.
United Autosports were third and fourth fastest, with Wayne Boyd in the no23 Ligier 0.026s ahead of teammate Garnet Patterson in the no22 Nissan powered car.Former champion Laurents Hörr was fifth fastest with a 1m50.408s lap.
The no88 GMB Motorsport Honda NSX led the way in the GT3 category with Mikkel Pedersen setting a 1m56.021, 0.280s ahead of the no61 AF Corse Ferrari of Andrea Montermini and four tenths quicker than the no46 Ebimotors Porsche of former champion Fabio Babini, which finished the session third fastest.
The second and final free practice session will take place at 17h10 (CEST) later today.
