Adrien Chila will start his home race at Le Castellet at the head of the 42-car field after the French driver came out on top in a hard fought LMP3 qualifying session.

Several cars made a bid for pole for the fourth race of the 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup, including the no77 Team Thor Ligier of Audunn Gudmundsson, the no2 CD Sport Ligier of Fabien Michal, the no16 Team Virage Ligier of Julien Gerbi and the no3 DKR Engineering Duqueine of Alexander Bukhantsov.

However, it was the no87 COOL Racing Ligier of Adrien Chila who made a bid for the top in the second half of the 15-minute session and with four minutes left on the clock, Chila posted a 1m52.443 lap, which proved to be the best at the chequered flag. Matthias Luethen will start this afternoon’s race on the front row in the no29 MV2S Racing Ligier, finishing the session 0.282s behind Chila.

Row two is an all CD Sport affair with the no11 Ligier of Shahan Sarkissian taking third, the Lebanese driver posting a 1m52.984 on his last flying lap to finish 0.051s ahead of his teammate Fabien Michal.

Julien Gerbi was fifth fastest in the no16 Team Virage Ligier and will head Row 3 of the grid, with the no7 Nielsen Racing Ligier of former champion Tony Wells alongside the Spaniard. The leading Duqueine was the no3 DKR Engineering car of Alexander Bukhantsov, who finished in 7thwith a 1m53.187, with the no77 Team Thor Ligier in 8th.
