The no66 Rinaldi Racing Duqueine set the fastest time of the first track session of the weekend with Nicolas Varrone setting a 2m14.143 lap, 0.181s ahead of the nearest rival, the no21 Muehlner Motorsport Duqueine of Belgium’s Ugo de Wilde.
The no69 Cool Racing Ligier of Matt Bell was third fastest with the British driver posting a 2m14.660 lap, half a second behind the lead car.
The no8 Iron Lynx Ferrari of Paolo Ruberti was the fastest of the three GT3 cars, the Italian finishing the 60-minute session with a 2m19.953 lap, nearly one second ahead of the no2 Pzoberer Zürichsee by TFT Porsche of Julien Andlauer.
The session started nearly an hour later than scheduled when heavy fog delayed the start of the earlier Ligier European Series practice session.
FP1 was also interrupted by a Red Flag when the no16 Team Virage Ligier of Mattias Luethen went off track into the barriers at Raidillon.The German driver was OK, but the damaged car had to be recovered and the tyre barrier repaired before the session could resume.
Free Practice 2 will take place at 16h55 (CEST) this afternoon.
