The second qualifying session of the Road to Le Mans weekend saw the bronze drivers go head to head to decide who would start on pole for the feature race on Saturday morning just before the 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The session was cut short when the no5 CD Sport Ligier went off track at MP22 and the red flag was shown with three minutes left on the clock.
The no37 Cool Racing Ligier of Nicolas Maulini took the pole with a 3m49.079 lap, 2.8 seconds ahead of the no3 DKR Engineering Duqueine of Jean Glorieux, the Belgian driver closing the gap from 4 seconds late in the session.The no26 Graff Ligier was 3rd fastest ahead of the no14 Eurointernational Ligier.
The GT3 pole was secured by the championship leader Rino Mastronardi, the Italian lapping the 13.6km track in 3m56.532 1.5 seconds ahead of the no63 FFF Racing Team by ACM Lamborghini of Hiroshi Hamaguchi, the two cars finishing qualifying in 9thand 10thoverall. The no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari of Michael Broniszewski was third fastest but nearly 5 seconds behind the pole sitter and just ahead of Round 3 winner Nicolas Leutwiler in the no2 Pzoberer Zurichsee by TFT Porsche.
The next time the cars are on track will be for the first 55-minute race of the Road to Le Mans weekend, which is due to start at 14h15 this afternoon.
