Winners' reactions after Road To Le Mans

Micheal Benham - No25 Lanan Racing Norma M30 – Nissan
“I don’t know how I will be able to describe winning at Le Mans if I am honest.  I’m a bronze; a gentleman driver and I do this for fun, so I had no anticipation what it would be like and it feels amazing.  Somebody has been looking after me this week.  I think the start was the third time this weekend I have gone through a melee of cars spinning and crashing, coming out the otherside without a scratch.  I knew Jean-Baptiste (Lahaye) was in the no19 car and I knew he was faster than me, so there wasn’t a lot of point defending too hard but I did try to make his life a little difficult.  I knew I had to get the car home in one piece and get Duncan in it to do what he does best.  And he certainly did.”

Duncan Tappy - No25 Lanan Racing Norma M30 – Nissan
“I think that race was just as exciting inside the car as it was for everyone outside.  I have to say that Michael (Benham) made this victory possible.  Watching that race you wouldn’t be able to tell that this is only his third full season of racing.  The composure he had to hold onto that place with pro drivers around him was unbelievable.  Yes there was the safety car, but he still had to control everything and all I had to do was literally drive the car.  I was a little concerned that Rayhall was going to break me, but after two laps I could see he was getting a little loose and so I could bide my time to take the lead.  I knew once I was in clean air I would be able to just manage it.  We were destined to win this and all credit to the team, they did a great job.”

Christoph Ulrich – no51 Spirit of Race Ferrari F488 GT3
“That is amazing; it is a kind of a dream.  This is why you test and train and everything.  We were a bit unlucky on Thursday as we had some electrical issues with the car.  The team fixed it yesterday and today we just we tried to be a bit more aggressive.  It was a bit of chaos at the start, so we were a little on the lucky side today.  An amazing day and an amazing result.”

Maurizio Mediani – no51 Spirit of Race Ferrari F488 GT3
“This is the best result after last year when we were leading and we had some problems.  So it is great to come back to Le Mans and win at the biggest event in the world.”
